Changelog

Changelog

Every version of Daili, from the most recent, described for what changes for the people who use it. The technical version of the same list lives in CHANGELOG.md, in the code repository.

This page is a translation of the Italian version.

2026.10.5 — 5 October 2026

With a spusu SIM the profile is no longer empty: it shows your address, email and payment method, and for the plan its name and the date it started. Plan links the carrier doesn’t provide no longer appear, instead of opening a page that doesn’t exist, and with spusu the Top up entry no longer leads to Iliad’s page.

With spusu, the loading captions of Options and of “Calls and SMS” and the texts about the cost and purchase of options say spusu, not Iliad. In Settings, under Contacts, a note explains that spusu hides the last 3 digits of numbers, so with spusu contact names can’t be shown. When signing in with spusu, the number field opens the number keypad.

In Usage the peak tile is as tall as the average beside it. When there’s little to show, scrolling down stops with the content just below the top bar, instead of hiding it under the bar and leaving the page empty.

The diagnostics question appears as soon as Home first opens, no longer the next time you come back to the app. Its usage statistics entry now says, correctly, that Daili doesn’t let Firebase read the Android Advertising ID. The F-Droid version, which sends nothing, no longer asks it.

2026.10.4 — 4 October 2026

On tablets and unfolded foldables, the coloured header at the top of Home and Usage runs up under the status bar, as on a phone, and the same colour spans the top of the side rail too. A light band used to sit above the header. When you scroll and the page covers the header, the part above the side rail goes back to its own colour.

On Android 15 and later, after switching theme from the button at the top, the app no longer reached the top edge: a band stayed across the top of the screen with status bar icons you couldn’t read, until the app was next started. It now stays full screen.

2026.10.3 — 2 October 2026

Widgets no longer stretch to fill the space the launcher gives them: the card is as tall as its content and sits in the middle, with the wallpaper around it. On two rows, half the card used to be empty.

The settings of a widget already on the home screen can be reopened, from the pencil or “Widget settings” on launchers that offer it, such as the Pixel’s. They open on that widget’s own SIM and settings.

In the widget setup, what is drawn over the wallpaper (the title, the back arrow, the note under the preview and the status bar icons) takes its colour from the phone’s wallpaper, so it no longer disappears on a dark or a light one. The preview is as tall as the widget, and the setup starts on the SIM you are using in the app. On tablets and foldables the preview is as wide as the widget and the button sits under the options.

The Info tab stays open when you fold, unfold or rotate the phone: it used to go back to the screen underneath.

Settings no longer has the FAQ and Telegram channel rows.

2026.10.2 — 2 October 2026

There is a new “Calls and SMS” page, opened from “See all” on Home and from the Minutes and SMS tabs of Usage. It lists every call and SMS of the SIM grouped by month, with how many there are, the call time and what was charged, and keeps Italy and abroad apart. For Iliad it downloads iliad.it’s usage history: the current offer period and the four before it. For Spusu, the current month and the three before it, which is what spusu.it keeps. A selector shows one period at a time.

Iliad: the Services screen shows every option and voice service the way iliad.it lists them, including the roaming bundles (EU and UK, Switzerland, USA and Canada) with their price and terms, the consents, Surfie, visual voicemail and sea roaming. Some options used to show the wrong state, and contact names could not be turned on. Every change asks for confirmation, and those that can cost money (buying a bundle, unlocking data past the allowance, unblocking premium-rate numbers, sea roaming) first show a warning quoting Iliad’s own text.

Spusu: the Services screen shows the line’s services the way spusu.it groups them, and they can now be turned on and off from Daili. Turning on one that can cost money shows a warning first.

On Home, the “This SIM” section shows when you last topped up and whether automatic top-up is on. For Spusu, which keeps no list of top-ups, it shows the last payment.

The renewal reminder now says which SIM it is about: the name you gave it in Daili, else the line holder’s name, else the number.

Iliad: in months without SMS the list of latest calls stayed empty; it shows now. Calls and SMS made abroad are now marked “Abroad”: they all used to count as made in Italy. When a call or an SMS was charged, its amount is shown.

2026.10.1 — 1 October 2026

The widgets’ “Text size” option now works. You could pick “Small”, but the widget stayed the same, preview included. Now “Small” makes every text on the widget smaller, and the font size chosen in the phone’s settings still applies on top.

On Android 5 and 6, Daili had no icon in the launcher. It has one now.

“Reports and ideas”, in the Info tab, has a new look: a switch at the top between your reports and the ideas, and a single button at the bottom to write a new one. Empty screens, loading and errors have a look of their own now too.

Screen readers such as TalkBack now say whether each switch is on or off: they used to read it as just another button.

2026.9.11 — 30 September 2026

On some Android 6 phones, the panels that slide up from the bottom of the screen, such as messages and choices like the theme, closed Daili. They open normally now, including the one that says your credentials are wrong.

2026.9.10 — 30 September 2026

Daili no longer crashes on SIMs it has followed for years. Old renewal reminders piled up there: at 500, Android refused any more and Daili closed. Each SIM now has a single reminder, and the extra ones are deleted.

The renewal reminder no longer shows twice, and “Postpone” now actually postpones it: before, it saved nothing.

Daili no longer closes on some phones whose system software claims Android 14 but is missing parts of Android, when an accessibility service is on. On the same phones, starting a purchase closed Daili: it now stops with the usual error message.

Signing in no longer crashes on Android 6.

2026.9.9 — 30 September 2026

Widgets now update on their own, at the rate you set. On some phones the automatic update stopped halfway and only resumed when you opened Daili, so a widget showed old figures until you went into the app.

Signing in again to a saved Spusu SIM no longer shows “+39 +39” in the number field.

Reply notifications are only for new replies: one you have already read is no longer notified again, and reinstalling Daili no longer notifies every old reply at once.

2026.9.8 — 28 September 2026

Signing in to Spusu works again: it stopped with an error straight away, before the email with the link was sent.

Texts with a number read correctly in the singular too, such as “Last day” on the usage chart and “Restored 1 account”.

2026.9.7 — 28 September 2026

Widgets, back to how they should be

Once placed on the home screen, widgets were see-through: the background disappeared entirely, whatever transparency was set. They have their background again. The transparency slider also ran backwards: a new, solid widget said “Transparency 100%”, and moving it to 0% to get a solid widget made it invisible. Now 0% is a solid widget and the slider makes it more transparent to the right. Widgets already set up keep exactly the look they have.

The refresh button on a widget stopped working after the widget was placed or reconfigured: it now always works, and automatic updates respect the refresh rate chosen for each SIM again.

In the phone’s widget list, previews were cut off and always in Italian: they are now whole, in the phone’s language, and each widget has a short description (Android 12 and later). Two widgets have shorter names, “All” and “Data (Compact)”. The “All” widget shows unlimited minutes at the same size as the rest, and the basic widget no longer cuts off its percentage label.

Widgets are Pro, and now you know before

Without Pro you could place a widget that then sat on the home screen asking for the Pro version. The setup screen now says so first: the button that adds it carries the PRO label and opens the Pro screen, and nothing is placed. Widgets already on a home screen are left alone.

Sudden closes, fixed

Buying Pro crashed on Android 14 and 15: fixed. And Daili no longer closes at launch on some phones whose system software reports a version of Android without shipping all of it.

2026.9.5 — 27 September 2026

The sudden closings, fixed

September’s new version had five recurring ways of closing on its own, all of them from crash reports and all of them fixed. Widgets no longer close Daili when a SIM has no renewal date, no credit or no data unit — Spusu SIMs above all, which may have no renewal date at all: the missing figure simply shows blank. Saving a widget’s refresh rate no longer causes an exit, and neither does restoring a backup. Daili starts again on phones whose system software was missing a piece Android requires. The usage list no longer crashes on a number that is empty or not in your contacts. And the settings button on the sign-in screen no longer takes the app down when activated twice — a tap and a key together, say.

The rest of the version

2026.9.4 — 25 September 2026

A new look: Home, Usage and SIM

The bottom bar is now a floating “pill” with four tabs: Home (your data left, minutes and SMS, your credit with a top-up button, and every one of your SIMs), Usage (this period’s totals, what you have used abroad and your latest calls and messages), SIM (one card per account, from which you manage options and services, voicemail, personal data, settings and adding a SIM) and Info (the app’s identity, this changelog, how to contact the developer, credits and, if you have an active subscription or a licence, a small badge that says so).

Usage now shows your day-by-day history

A 14-day chart, your daily average and the day you used the most, built from readings Daili records on this phone every time it fetches fresh data (signing in, a manual refresh, or a widget refresh) — never from your carrier, which does not provide this detail at all. It starts showing after your second day of use; before that, and until you have 14 days of history, it says so plainly instead of drawing an empty or invented chart.

Manage your SIMs

From the SIM tab you can give each account a name, reorder your SIMs, make one of them current, and remove one — removing a SIM deletes its saved login and its data on this phone, without touching your account with the carrier. Renewal notifications and the usage alert threshold are now a setting of each SIM rather than of the whole app: you can keep one quiet while another still reminds you. The app-wide notification switch still has the last word, though — off is off for every SIM.

Sign in with Spusu too

Pick the operator at the top of the login screen. With Spusu there is no password to type: ask for the link, which arrives by email, and paste it back here — or, over Spusu’s own mobile data, sign in with no link at all.

The dark theme is free, and you can choose your own look

You no longer need Pro for the dark theme. Choose light, dark or your phone’s own theme, Material You colours, or a different colour for each SIM.

Daili Pro becomes a subscription

From this version on, Daili Pro is no longer a one-time purchase: it is a monthly subscription (€0.69/month) or a yearly one (€6.99/year, Italy price — the store applies exchange and tax automatically for other countries), with at least 7 days of free trial on both plans, with nothing excluded. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts at the price shown and renews on its own; you can cancel it at any time from Google Play.

If you had already bought Daili Pro with the old one-time purchase, nothing changes for you: you keep Pro for good, on every device, without having to do anything and without ever being asked to subscribe for the features you already had. That purchase does not go back on sale.

Backup and restore (Pro)

You can save all your accounts and settings into a single file, wherever you choose to put it with the system file picker — including your own cloud storage, if you want: that is your choice, not something Daili does on your behalf. The file is always encrypted, with a password of at least 12 characters that you must set and that is never saved anywhere: if you lose it, that file can no longer be read by anyone, the developer included. Daili itself never uploads the file anywhere. Restoring a backup never requires Pro, in any build of the app: creating one is a Pro feature in the Play build, free in the store-free build.

Daili on your watch (Pro)

If you have a Wear OS smartwatch, install the Daili app straight from Settings: every one of your SIMs at a glance, a tile, and a complication for any SIM and any figure — credit, usage, renewal.

The widget has a new setup screen

The screen for setting up a widget is redesigned: choose the theme (light, dark or your phone’s own), adjust transparency and text size with a live preview over your real wallpaper (Daili asks no permission to show it), and set a different refresh rate for each SIM (Pro). The Daili mark on the widget now carries a gradient in your SIM’s own colour, as does the bar showing how much you have used; the widget also says more clearly when it was last updated and when it is updating right now.

Voicemail is more reliable

Switching to a different message while one is still downloading no longer lets you hear both at once; playback now stops on its own if you unplug your headphones or take a call, instead of carrying on underneath it; a download or a playback that fails now shows an error message instead of doing nothing; and deleting a message also removes its downloaded file from this phone.

Sign in with Google or with your email — optional

From Settings you can now prove who you are, with a Google account or with your email and a code we send you. You do not need it to use the app: it only opens up the possibility of reading, in the Info tab, the replies to a bug report or a feature request, voting for other users’ requests, and appearing on the supporters list. The screen for reporting a bug or asking for a feature also has a new look, and there is now a Links section in Info with the Telegram channel.

An optional notifications channel for announcements

A new notifications channel, “Announcements”, for news about Daili — separate from renewal and usage notifications, and one you can turn off at any time from Settings.

Password managers help you sign in

Bitwarden and other password managers now fill in both the username and the password on the login screen. A bug report made from that same screen also goes through the in-app reporter, never including your password.

One question, just once

The first time you open the app, we ask whether you want to share crash reports and anonymous usage statistics: they are pre-set to yes, to help us find problems faster, but you can say no right away or change your mind at any time from Settings. Daili no longer asks for the notification permission the moment you open it: it asks only when you turn on renewal notifications, in Settings.
